Frequently asked questions
What does each ticket include?
The Palace ticket admits you to the Reception Halls — the grand staircase, Karl XI's Gallery, Hedvig Eleonora's State Bedchamber and the other state rooms — at any time during opening hours on your chosen date. The combined ticket adds the Chinese Pavilion, open in the summer season. Both are emailed to you as e-tickets.
Is entry at a fixed time?
No. Your ticket is valid for one visit at any time during opening hours on the date you choose — 10:00–17:00 from May to September, 10:00–16:00 on open days from October to April. Once inside, stay as long as you like.
Is the Chinese Pavilion always open?
No. The Chinese Pavilion is a summer sight: open daily from June to August and at weekends in May and September, and closed from October to April. Our calendar doesn't offer the combined ticket outside the Pavilion's season.
Do children need a ticket?
Children aged 6 and under go free with an adult and don't need a ticket. Everyone aged 7 and over needs one.
Can I visit the Palace Theatre with this ticket?
No. Drottningholm Palace Theatre, built in 1766, is run by a separate organisation with its own guided tours and performances, booked through the theatre itself. It isn't included in our tickets.
How do I get there from Stockholm?
Take the metro (T-bana) to Brommaplan and change to a bus for the Drottningholms slott stop — about 30–45 minutes from the centre. Buy SL tickets in the SL app; they aren't sold at Drottningholm. In summer, sightseeing boats sail from Stadshuskajen by City Hall, a scenic hour across Lake Mälaren.
How will I get my ticket?
After you book, we buy your admission and email you a mobile / print-at-home e-ticket. Show it at the palace entrance on your visit date. All sales are final; if the palace itself can't admit you on your date, you're refunded in full.
How long should I allow?
About 1–1.5 hours for the Reception Halls, plus time for the free park and, in summer, the Chinese Pavilion — a relaxed half-day. Add 30–45 minutes each way from central Stockholm by metro and bus.
